THE FIELD GUIDE
Color points to a den or bloodline reputation. Tail shape describes the weapon. Neither one is a deterministic signet chart.
| Pairing | Book-world temperament | Known bond | Signet tendency (unofficial) |
|---|---|---|---|
Blue Daggertail Gormfaileas | Sharp-minded, formidable, and not interested in being handled. Blue is a reputation, not a personality test. | Sgaeyl — Xaden Riorson | Shadow, concealment, perception, or another ability that rewards control and tactical thinking (unofficial tendency). |
Green Daggertail Solas | Rational, observant, and difficult to rattle. Green dragons are often described as the most intelligent den line. | Feirge — Rhiannon Matthias | Retrieval, pattern-reading, recall, or other information-forward abilities (unofficial tendency). |
Brown Clubtail Rynonian | Steady, loyal, and more grounded than flashy. A brown dragon is not the same as a safe dragon. | No named clubtail bond is assigned to this row. Aotrom is a brown Swordtail bonded to Ridoc Gamlyn. | Shielding, warding, endurance, or practical protection (unofficial tendency). |
Red Swordtail Dubhmadinn | Fast-tempered, dramatic, and dangerous to underestimate. Approach is part of the survival lesson. | Cath — Dain Aetos; Sliseag — Sawyer Henrick | Force, metallurgy, heat, or a direct-action ability (unofficial tendency). |
Black Morningstartail Dubhmadinn | Rare, powerful, cunning, and deeply intimidating. A black dragon is associated with intelligence, not automatic villainy. | Tairn — Violet Sorrengail | High-impact power, command, or a large-area ability (unofficial tendency). |
Gold Feathertail Special / juvenile context | Young, elusive, and unusually resistant to the normal battle-dragon assumptions. | Andarna — Violet Sorrengail (early feathertail presentation) | Time, possibility, gifts, or a rule-breaking ability (unofficial tendency). |
A blue dragon can have a dagger tail; a black dragon can have a morningstar or sword tail. The two labels answer different questions. The tail is the weapon-like form at the end of the dragon’s body, while the color/den language is about the dragon’s line and its reputation.
That split is why a Dragonkind card can feel more specific than “I got a blue dragon.” If a card gives you both, read them together—but leave room for the individual dragon to break the stereotype.
